Tis’ The Holiday Season: How to Get Your Office Festive

It is officially that time of the year! December is a month that brings parties, events, shopping and family gatherings, all leading up to Christmas Day. While there’s a lot happening outside of work, December is also a very busy month for many businesses. Most companies have many things that have to be accomplished before the end of the year. With so much going on, it can be easy to forget about the holiday season while at work. Below are some tips on how to create a festive holiday atmosphere in  your office.

Office Party: An office holiday party is the perfect way to have some holiday fun with your coworkers. Assign a party-planning committee to select the venue, food and decorations. Or go small-scale and have a potluck dinner where everyone brings a dish to pass. This is a perfect time to bond with your coworkers and to celebrate the holiday season.

Give Back: December is a month of giving. While we want to bring joy to ourselves, it is equally important to bring joy to others. A great way to do this is to partner with a local charity organization by holding an office food or toy drive. It is important to give back during the holidays, and this is a great opportunity for your office to do so.

Decorations: Decorations are an essential component to the holiday season. You probably decorate your house, but why not put up a few decorations at work as well? Wreaths, tinsel or even a small Christmas tree are just a few decorations that could add festive charm to your work setting. Want to step up the game? Hold a cubicle decorating contest and award the winner with a prize. A few decorations will liven up any office and will get you and your co workers in the holiday spirit.

Secret Santa: While it is the season of giving, it is probably unnecessary (and way too expensive) to get gifts for everyone in the office. To narrow down your shopping list and lighten the gift-giving burden, get your office to do a Secret Santa. With the Secret Santa system, you are randomly assigned a person to anonymously buy a gift for. This ensures that everyone in the office can get a give and receive a gift without breaking the bank.

Celebrating Christmas doesn’t have to be an activity saved for just your family. Bringing Christmas Spirit into the office is a great way to boost office morale and ultimately increase productivity.
